RTX 3070 3080 cards canceled
Stronger versions of GeForce RTX 3070 and 3080 cards canceled
From the beginning, it was clear that the memory gap between the existing three models of the new GeForce cards would be used to adequately respond to what the competition was preparing. A slide from one presentation confirmed that, so we expected enhanced versions of the RTX 3070 and RTX 3080 graphs with twice as much memory to appear (and grab) on the market in December. However, as two different sources from the company state (and the Videocardz portal reports, which has been quite reliable so far as rumors are concerned), the production of these cards is suspended.
There is probably a problem with the delivery of components. Nvidia supplies GDDRX6 memory from Micron, whose production capacity is rated as "modest". Due to high demand, it is questionable how the Green Team will cope with the production and delivery of existing models, so forcing the new 3080, which is even more demanding, is justifiably controversial. AMD, meanwhile, will not standstill. At the end of October, the new Radeon RX 6000 series with 16 gigabytes of VRAM will enter the scene, so Nvidia will lag in this class and this segment, at least on paper. Since these "Super" variants have not been confirmed by the company, it is unlikely that anyone relevant will officially announce their withdrawal, and they can always, when the conditions improve, continue according to the set plan.
