Xiaomi's patent reveals a phone with a wrapping screen and pop-up cameras

Xiaomi unveiled the Mi MIX Alpha this year, which arrived with an interesting envelope screen solution. Although it was a concept rather than a commercial product, the phone attracted a large number of innovation enthusiasts. Now a new patent from Xiaomi has appeared, for a phone similar to the Mi MIX Alpha model.

The new patent was first discovered by the website LetsGoDigital, which suggests that the patent application was filed in April, and was published on December 18. The documentation also contains 16 sketches, based on which LetsGoDigital has created its renderings of what the phone might look like.

The sketches show a display that wraps around the device at all 360 degrees. The difference compared to the Mi MIX Alpha is that the new patent suggests that the future phone would use a mechanized pop-up module at the top, where three cameras and a dual-LED flash are housed.

Besides, at the top of the Xiaomi phone, there is an ignition key and a secondary microphone, while at the bottom there is a speaker, primary microphone, 3.5mm port, and USB Type-C port.
