Lenovo has refreshed the ThinkBook line, introducing the new Legion gaming laptops
Lenovo had several interesting announcements during the CES 2021 fair today. The company has announced refreshed ThinkBook models, and new Legion gaming laptops have been introduced.
First, there’s the ThinkBook Plus Gen 2i, which is a dual-screen convertible model with an E-Ink display on the back, which is now larger. The E-Ink display has a size of 12 inches and 2560 x 1600p resolution. Lenovo has increased the refresh rate, to improve the response of the E-Ink display. The laptop is also lighter and thinner (1.3kg and 13.9mm), while the internal 13.3-inch display has a 16:10 aspect ratio. The laptop is powered by an Intel Tiger Lake line of processors, and there are also Thunderbolt 4, Wi-Fi 6, and Iris Xe graphics. The ThinkBook Plus Gen 2i arrives during the first quarter, at a starting price of $ 1,549.
There are three other ThinkBook models: ThinkBook 13x and, ThinkBook 14p and ThinkBook 16p. The ThinkBook 13x and is one of the thinnest business laptops, 12.9mm thick and weighing less than 1.2kg. It is mostly similar to the ThinkBook Plus Gen 2i model but without the E-Ink display. The price of the laptop is 1199 dollars. The ThinkBook 14p and ThinkBook 16p come with AMD Ryzen 5000 processors. The 14p model has a 14-inch 2.8K OLED display. The ThinkBook 16p is a real beast because, in addition to AMD Ryzen's next-generation processor, it also uses the Nvidia GeForce RTX 30 series of graphics cards. The ThinkBook 14p has a starting price of $ 849, while the ThinkBook 16p will cost $ 1299.
When it comes to gaming laptops, Lenovo has introduced new Legion models, including the Legion 7, Legion Slim 7, Legion 5 Pro, and Legion 5.
Legion 7 has a 16-inch 16:10 screen up to 2560 x 1600p resolution and supports 100% sRGB color spectrum. There’s also a 165Hz refresh and 500-bit brightness. Of course, the best frame rate will be available with the new GeForce RTX 30 graphics cards with support for Ray Tracing 2.0. The laptop uses AMD Ryzen 5000 processors, has an 80WHr battery, optional Killer AX1650 Wi-Fi, and Coldfront 3.0 cooling. Legion 7 arrives in June, at a starting price of $ 1,700.
The Legion Slim 7 is the model that Lenovo claims is the lightest 15.6-inch gaming laptop with RTX graphics. In addition to the Ryzen 5000 processor, this model also has a 4K 60Hz or 1080p 165Hz screen, 71WHr battery, and more. The laptop case is made of aluminum and magnesium and will be available in May.
Legion 5 Pro arrives in redesigned Storm Gray and Stingray White variants. The laptop offers a 16-inch screen in 2560 x 1600p resolution, has a 165Hz refresh rate, and a 90% screen-to-body ratio. A larger touchpad is present, and the screen supports Dolby Vision and Nvidia G-Sync. Legion 5 Pro arrives in March, at a starting price of $ 1,000.
Finally, there is the Legion 5, which will be available in screen sizes of 15 and 17 inches. The laptop has a 1080p display, offering refresh rates up to 144Hz on the 17.3-inch model and up to 165Hz on the 15.6-inch model. Available colors are Stingray White and Phantom Blue. Legion 5 will be on sale from March for 770 dollars.
