Qualcomm has introduced the Snapdragon 870 5G with speeds up to 3.2GHz
Qualcomm has introduced its latest chipset - the Snapdragon 870 5G Mobile Platform, which represents a significant upgrade over the July Snapdragon 865 Plus model.
The latest chipset uses the Qualcomm Kryo 585 CPU Prime core, with clock speeds up to 3.2GHz, which the company claims will offer improved performance.
Qualcomm did not mention any changes to the GPU domain but points out that the chip will enable capable gameplay with fast Qualcomm Snapdragon Elite Gaming experiences, global 5G sub-6 GHz, and mmWave support via Snapdragon X55 modem and intuitive AI.

The chipset supports displays with panels up to 1440p and refresh rates up to 144Hz (or 4K @ 60Hz) and supports HDR + (Rec. 2020 color gamut). The Spectra 480 ISP is unchanged and offers support for camera sensors up to 200MP, 8K video recording @ 30 fps (4K @ 120 fps), HDR10 +, and Dolby Vision standards.
The Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 will launch several premium phones from Motorola, iQOO, OnePlus, OPPO and Xiaomi. Devices with the Snapdragon 870 chipset are expected to be released during the first quarter of 2021.
