Samsung is preparing an 870 EVO series of SSDs with a capacity of up to 4TB

Samsung 870 EVO SSD

Thanks to the WinFuture site, we have the first insight into Samsung’s 870 EVO series of SSDs. These are fast SATA storage devices, with capacities of 250GB, 500GB, 1TB, 2TB, and 4TB.

Although Samsung has not yet officially released the 870 EVO series, the packaging design suggests that the drive will be faster than its predecessor (860 EVO) and will offer a 10 Mbps increase in data read and write speeds. As you can see in the photos, the SSD offers speeds of 560 Mbps for reading and 530 Mbps for writing data.

Like most modern SATA SSDs, many aspects of the Samsung 870 EVO model will be limited by the 6Gbps flow of the SATA III interface. However, it remains to be seen how much faster the 870 EVO will be than its predecessor in real work.

It is not known what type of NAND Samsung uses in the new SSD. TLC NAND was part of the previous EVO series, but Samsung could use a different type of NAND for the new series.
