Xiaomi is preparing a wireless remote charger, the Mi Air Charge

Inductive wireless charging that works with charging pads is still not available for every device, but the XDA-developer's website indicates that Xiaomi suggests a move to the next step - remote wireless charging.

Real "touchless" wireless chargers could charge devices from a few meters away, and Xiaomi is preparing its solution called Mi Air Charge Technology.

Xiaomi did not release details such as the release date or compatible hardware, but it did show a demo and mentioned the 17 patents it has for this technology.

Mi Air Charge Technology is a 5W charging system, which uses 144 antennas in the base station, and sends millimeter waves to the phone, which receive them on its system with 14 antennas.

Xiaomi claims that the technology is not science fiction and that at some point it will be able to charge several devices at the same time, pass through physical objects, and power various small devices - from smartwatches to speakers.
