Exynos 2200 chip, with AMD GPU, could appear in laptops later this year
According to South Korea, citing unnamed suppliers and partners from Samsung, the next-generation Exynos chipset with AMD graphics will appear later this year under the Exynos 2200 brand. The report also suggests that the Exynos 2200 solution will be powered by the ARM Windows 10 Samsung laptop, which is expected during the second half of 2021.
The South Korean manufacturer confirmed last month that it is working with AMD to create a next-generation mobile GPU, which will appear in Samsung’s future premium products. It was not mentioned which device it was, and many assumed that it was a Galaxy phone.

However, the Exynos 2200 SoC could be part of Samsung’s longer-term plans to compete in the market with Qualcomm in the notebook segment. Samsung’s mysterious Windows 10 laptop with the Exynos 2200 chip will reportedly lay the foundation in Samsung’s efforts to match Qualcomm in the ARM laptop market. Samsung has previously introduced several ARM Windows 10 laptops, but they used Qualcomm Snapdragon chips.
For now, there are no details on the specifications of the Exynos 2200 chipset. Also, it is not known whether this will be Samsung’s only premium chip with an AMD GPU that we will see this year, nor whether it will run both phones and laptops or is designed only for notebook devices.
