AMD officially provides Smart Access Memory for the Ryzen 3000 series
AMD has confirmed that Smart Access Memory support arrives on the Ryzen 3000 series processors, providing official support for one of AMD’s premium features for a number of PC players.
AMD Smart Access Memory is a platform-level feature that allows the AMD Radeon RX 6000 series graphics cards to take advantage of an option called PCIe Resizable BAR, allowing AMD to overcome platform limitations and deliver higher levels of performance for Radeon-powered systems.
More specifically, Smart Access Memory allows the system processor to access the entire video memory of the graphics card, allowing the CPU to utilize more PCI Express throughput and use more of the GPU memory potential to provide the best possible gaming performance.
With the official announcement of support for Smart Access Memory, PC gamers can now expect approved drivers and BIOS support for Resizable BAR on their Ryzen 3000 series processors.
It should be noted that AMD excludes the Ryzen 5 3400G and Ryzen 3 3200G models from this support. These two processors are technically Zen + processors with Ryzen 3000 series branding, which makes them different from other Ryzen 3000 series CPUs based on AMD's Zen 2 architecture.
