Over 2000 games will disappear with the closure of the PS Store for PS3, PSP, and PS Vita
The VideoGameChronicle portal has made an interesting analysis of the situation that will arise after the announced closure of the PlayStation digital game store for the PlayStation 3, PS Vita, and PSP consoles. It is stated that over 2000 games will be "damaged", ie. will go out of circulation - what on PlayStation platforms, what in general.
Namely, while some games for old Sony consoles will still be able to be sold/bought in physical edition (on optical discs), thousands of games will not be so lucky because they were launched exclusively digitally. Luckily, some of these games are also available on other platforms (eg PC or Xbox), but a total of 120 games will go on sale permanently and will not be available in any other way than in pirated form.
Some games will become a kind of console exclusives for Xbox consoles. For example, games such as Beyond Good and Evil HD, Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon, Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light, Bionic Commando and others, will only be available for purchase on Xbox and/or PC. Resident Evil Darkside and Umbrella Chronicles will once again become exclusive to the Wii console. Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories in digital edition becomes exclusive for Android and iOS platforms.
With the closure of the PS Store on the PS3 and PS Viti, almost 600 games for the PlayStation 1 and 2 consoles in the digital edition will disappear. This also eliminates the possibility of buying PlayStation classics such as Silent Hill, Metal Gear Solid, and others on PlayStation consoles.
Here's what will be covered by shutting down the PS store for PS3, PSV, and PSP:
- about 630 exclusively digital games for PS Vito
- about 730 exclusively digital games for the PlayStation 3
- 293 PlayStation Mini Games
- 336 PS2 Classic Games
- about 260 PS1 Classic games
