Red Dead Redemption 2 received a modification for VR
The Rockstar team expressed interest in VR technology through L.A. Noire: The VR Case Files, but as for the “main” series - GTA and RDR - we are still waiting for their virtual realities. That is, we are waiting for the official VR component for these series. Unofficially, GTA 5 on PC has had a mode for years that switches the game to VR performance, and now a similar VR mode has been given to the PC version of Red Dead Redemption 2.
Behind the VR mode for RDR2 is developer Luke Ross, the same one who switched GTA 5 to VR. The mod is currently in a very early stage of development, but Ross distributes it through his Patreon and is functional enough for Red Dead to be experienced in virtual reality. with the help of a controller.
Now, as Red Dead Redemption 2 is not designed as a VR experience, there are several difficulties in this performance. Although VR mode allows you to play in both third and first-person, the player often has no control over the camera, which is a strange experience in VR - and painful for some. Weapon targeting is also performed by moving the head/headset, so this may be strange for some.
On top of that, RDR2 is a hardware-intensive game in itself, and as the VR version requires double rendering (for each eye separately), even the most powerful computers will struggle with this mode. In any case, the development of fashion goes further, so there is no doubt that sometime by 2025 we will probably have a commendable VR version of Red Dead Redemption 2.
