Resident Evil Village immediately broke its record of gameplay and ratings on the first day
While we are waiting for the Japanese company Capcom to boast about the sales results of the new horror game Resident Evil Village, we can already say after the first day that the game was a success. Namely, it was recorded on Steam that more than one hundred thousand players played it at the same time 24 hours ago. More precisely 101,726 players.
This is the highest number that a game from a long-running series like Resident Evil has managed to achieve. By comparison, Resident Evil 7 was previously played by about 20,000 players at a time, and the previous record for the RE series was held by Resident Evil 2 (remake) with a maximum of 74,227 simultaneous players.
The viewership of Resident Evil Village streams on the Twitch platform can be taken as a metric of the game's success. There, at one point yesterday, the game was watched by more than 600 thousand people, which is interesting because it was not played by some super famous streamers, but such ratings came from the combined statistics of several different streamers. For comparison, the previous viewing record on Twitch for the RE series was held by Resident Evil 3 (remake) with 318 thousand viewers.
Capcom is probably rubbing their hands with pleasure, but the final confirmation of the success of this horror hit will still be shown by the number of copies sold. Although the high ratings on Twitch help the game's exposure and show the audience's interest in it, there is no guarantee that viewers will want to play RE Village after the stream.
