The Virtua Fighter series is back
Here is good news for those who like Sega's once-popular tobacco, all three of them in Croatia, to be more precise. Virtua Fighter returns after nine years in the remastered edition of the fifth part… which was released for the PlayStation 3 console. It will be called: Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown.
There has been a lot of speculation as to whether the series is dead or still thinking of keeping it alive, and this is specifically proof that the ambitions for this series are still there, given that we have previously seen it in Yakuza arcade machine games. Having already mentioned the Yakuza games, the Virtua Fighter remaster is the responsibility of the Yakuza team and will be powered by the same engine as the Yakuza games. Does that mean now that the series will return with some new game? We don't know yet, but it must be admitted that this is also a good step forward.

It should be noted that this remaster coincides with the upcoming 60th anniversary of Sega so this could be one of the reasons why the series is returning right now. In any case, we will play the game on the Playstation 4 console on June 1 this year, in less than a week. It is also rumored that the game could be shared with a subscription to the PlayStation Plus since Sega has planned to bring the Virtua Fighter series closer to the esports market.
