The developers declared Hades the best game of 2020.
We are already in the second half of 2021 and we have long since left behind discussions about which games were the best in 2020. But the developers gathered a little later than usual due to the pandemic this time. The GDC (Game Developers Conference) started these days, and only now have the developers declared them the best games of 2020.
Surprisingly, this was not another dominance of The Last of Us Part II, which has already picked up a record number of awards so far. The biggest triumph at GDC 2021 was the independent game that our editorial office declared the best in 2020 - the roguelike action title Hades.
Hades picked up a total of three awards (the most among the nominees), including the most important one - for the best game of 2020. Here is what the list of GDC 2021 winners looks like:
- Best sound: Hades (Supergiant Games)
- Best Debut Game: Phasmophobia
- Best design: Hades
- Best Mobile Game: Genshin Impact
- The most innovative game: Dreams
- Best Story: The Last of Us Part II
- Best Technology: Microsoft Flight Simulator
- Best Visual Art: Ghost of Tsushima
- Best VR / AR game: Half-Life: Alyx
- Best Game of the Year: Hades
- Audience Award: Ghost of Tsushima
Hades is currently available on PC and Nintendo Switch platforms and arrives on PlayStation and Xbox in the eighth month.
