Netflix has confirmed that they are adding games to their subscriptions - for mobile phones
It was speculated last week that Netflix would expand its video game subscription, and now it has become official. In an address to investors, Netflix said the following:
“We see gaming as a new category, much like we have expanded to shoot original movies, series, and other content. The games will be included in the Netflix subscription, at no extra charge, in addition to movies and series. ”
But rumors that Netflix will now become a competitor to the Xbox Game Pass and similar game subscription services were still empty. Namely, Netflix states that in the beginning, their subscription will primarily include games for mobile devices.
One day the subscription may include games for consoles (or maybe PC), but for now, it will compete with services such as Apple Arcade and Google Play Pass.
"We think it's time to learn more about how our subscribers value video games." - they concluded in Netflix.
