Amazon’s game reportedly causes expensive RTX 3090 cards to overheat
The Nvidia GeForce RTX 3090 graphics card is currently the most powerful thing that can be obtained for playing PC games (provided you find it on sale). But even that most expensive graphics card can’t cope with the upcoming MMO game New World, which Amazon has been preparing for years.
However, New World is not so demanding that it suffers from graphics cards, but its closed beta testing has exposed a very big problem. Some cards due to the failure of the game itself or Nvidia's drivers are so broken in the launch of this game that there is overheating.
Specifically, this increases with RTX 3090 cards, and most cases have been reported with EVGA cards. There is no overheating on weaker graphics card models, but users have noticed that the cards draw an above-average amount of power. It is suspected that part of the blame belongs to the game itself which does not lock the number of frames per second.
In case you have encountered this problem yourself, and you have a specific RTX 3090 card from EVGA, the good news is that EVGA has reported that this defect on the card is covered by the warranty, so you do not need to worry that your money has gone to waste.
The rest of us can only hope that the New World will not repeat this in the full version coming out on August 31 this year.
