There will be no new Star Wars games this year
New games from a distant, distant galaxy are still far, far from coming out. Next week, Electronic Arts will hold its presentation of upcoming games as part of the EA Play show, but they have already confirmed that there will be no Star Wars projects among those games.
And given that we’ve already stepped into the second half of the year, it’s also unlikely that EA will launch new Star Wars games during 2021. It’s just too short that period between announcement and launch for that to happen.
We won’t be showing any new Star Wars games at EA Play Live on July 22nd…but all of us look forward to celebrating with you next year when we share our vision for the Galaxy far, far away!

Of course, Electronic Arts is no longer the only company working on Star Wars games, but others are no closer to launching the future games of that universe. We know that a new chapter of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is in development, and it has been rumored for months that Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 3 is coming.
However, none of this will be announced next Thursday on EA Play. It was also previously confirmed that no presentations will have games from the Mass Effect and Dragon Age series.
