Xbox boss: Sony did a good job with the PS5 controller
Selected Xbox users received survey questions this year about which aspect of the Xbox console should be improved. Among the answers offered, Microsoft listed one to improve the controller - modeled on the functionality of the gamepad for the PlayStation 5. It was a small indication that the Xbox could borrow the PlayStation's idea of haptic vibration and adaptive triggers on the controller in the future.
Now that indication has become even greater. The head of the Xbox division, Phil Spencer, was a guest on the Kinda Funny Gamescast show where he praised the DualSense controller for the PlayStation 5.
“We will probably still be working on the controller. I think Sony has done a good job with its controller, and when we look at their example we think there are things we need to do as well. ” Said, Spencer.
The DualSense controller for the PlayStation 5 stood out with its precise and versatile vibration capabilities and providing different resistance on the trigger keys (R2, L2). However, each game uses or does not take advantage of the capabilities of that controller differently, so support depends on the implementation.
That's why PlayStation 5 owners would benefit from having an Xbox controller with similar capabilities, as game developers would be more likely to consider implementing support for haptic vibration and adaptive triggers if more different controllers supported those functionalities.
