Call of Duty Vanguard arrives - confirmed

A small announcement was made last night for the fifth season of Call of Duty Black Ops content by Cold War and Warzone. As you can see in the picture above, we got a view of the new character, a bunch of numbers, and Japanese characters in the background. It is suspected that this is because next season will have some connection with Japan.

Some would say almost irrelevant, but with this picture Activision actually confirmed that the next game in the Call of Duty series should be called Vanguard. Namely, the series of Japanese characters that stand in the background of the image translates as “Vu ~ angādo” or Vanguard.

This is not the first time we have heard that word in the context of Call of Duty. Earlier this year, it was mentioned that the next CoD should be called Vanguard, although it was not clear whether it was the working name of the project or the full name. We don’t know now either, but chances are it’s the full name given that the word is used in promotion, albeit hidden.

The new Call of Duty should be unveiled sometime this month or next. It is being worked on by the Sledgehammer Games team that made CoD: WWII, and the game is reportedly revisiting the theme of earlier conflicts in history - probably World War II.
