Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher 3 may not get enhanced versions for PS5 and XSX / S during 2021.
The Polish CD Projekt team recently held a meeting for its shareholders at which they revealed some new information about plans for Cyberpunk 2077. The news is not particularly significant, but it was revealed that a quarter of studios are currently working on the first expansion for the game. They say it is too early to talk about the price of expansion and the timing of its launch.
On the other hand, the highest priority is currently the launch of an improved version of Cyberpunk 2077 for the PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series X / S console. The CD Project says that the next-gen upgrade is still planned for 2021, but they are not entirely sure whether it will be delivered by then.
“Our goal is to launch the next-gen version of Cyberpunk 2077 late this year. But at the same time, we have in mind the lesson we learned last year, and given that this project is still under development, we cannot say with certainty that the production schedule will not change. ” - stated from the CD Project.
The lesson they are talking about is of course rushing the game to the market before it was fully ready for it.
So, there is a chance that Cyberpunk 2077 will not get its next-gen version this year either, and there is no guarantee for that even in the case of The Witcher 3, which should also be released in an improved edition at the end of 2021. a little different from Cyberpunk because an external team (Saber Interactive) is working on The Witcher 3: Complete Edition. But they also warn that they cannot be 100% sure that everything will be over within the promised deadline.
"We are targeting late 2021 for both games, but at this point, we don't want to specifically list anything more than that." - they concluded from the CD Project.
