The first Red Dead Redemption is approaching a playable state on the PC
The original Red Dead Redemption with emulation could soon become playable on the PC. This is pretty much already true with the PlayStation 3 version via the RPCS3 emulator, but the same story still holds - the PS3 version of Red Dead Redemption was technically inferior to the Xbox 360 version. Therefore, it is worth looking at how the X360 version is emulated via the Xenia emulator.
The emulator could not chew the vegetation of the RDR and the good news is that this has mostly been resolved in the last year and a half. The situation is such that the RDR version emulation for the X360 even has fewer noticeable graphics anomalies (at least in the initial part of the game) than the PS3 version emulation version. But it’s far from stable, so there’s still no Red Dead Redemption on PC without any compromises.
The comforting fact is that we heard Rockstar thinking about a remaster of this game. It’s still just an unconfirmed rumor, but even that after 11 years is some chance to once again hope for RDR on PC.
