Several more new details from Horizon Forbidden West have been revealed
Horizon: Forbidden West’s new footage is unlikely to be seen until next year. But the Guerrilla Games team on the official PlayStation blog, therefore, brought a textual overview of the novelty of that game. They repeated a lot of things we knew before, such as that the game will have a free climbing system (modeled on Assassin’s Creed), that this time we will explore underwater landscapes, and that Aloy will use new tools to navigate the environment. But several new things have also been discovered, and they are as follows:
- weapons and armor will be able to be upgraded with perks, mods, and additional skills, but not anywhere in the world but on appropriate desktops
- the equipment upgrade system will be separate from the character upgrade itself, ie unlocking additional skills for Aloy, but will be complimentary at the same time - ie there will be no duplication of skills or bonuses through the character's equipment and experience
- An example of a character's new skill is Valor Surge - a type of powerful attack that is unlocked after a player makes a few precise shots on the enemy's weak points.
- There will be a total of 12 types of Valor Surge attacks, each of which has three levels of strength, and the player determines the strength of the attack by the length of the charge.
- unlike the previous game, in Forbidden West we will see battles in which human opponents and machines act in tandem, i.e. fight in a group in addition to free climbing, Aloy will have additional skills in this game such as jumping off the wall, and the game itself will encourage us to climb with new tools such as hooks and parachutes.
- The Pullcaster hook will not only be used for navigating the surroundings but also for spatial puzzles, eg Aloy can use the hook to open a passage, pull a loot chest from an elevated location, etc.
