Leaking materials for GTA Trilogy remasters, announcement soon?
Rockstar’s Launcher for PC Games has received an update these days whose code has been excavated with references to GTA 3, Vice City, and San Andreas on Unreal Engine. If you’ve been living under a rock in recent months, rumors have surfaced that it is these games that will get their remasters for current platforms, made from the ground up on Unreal Engine.
In addition to the references themselves, remaster logos and images for achievements were soon excavated. The logos suggest that the games will carry the subtitle The Definitive Edition. This is not a confirmation that each remaster will be able to be purchased separately, but it is easily possible that it will be so.
As for the images for achievements, you can see them in full on the GTA forum. The guy who dug them up states that some achievements have been slightly altered, and some are even completely new. Of course, the original editions of GTA 3, Vice City, and San Andreas did not have achievements, but they were subsequently obtained through later editions for mobile phones and consoles.
Keep in mind that none of this has been officially confirmed, but by all accounts, the announcement is practically around the corner. I’ll just say this: GTA 3 is celebrating its 20th birthday on the 22nd of this month, so it’s entirely likely that the official unveiling of the GTA Trilogy remasters will happen either then or before that date.
