eFootball has been postponed to spring 2022, Konami is returning the money
eFootball 2022 today gets an update to version 0.9.1 that fixes some serious flaws like invisible footballers. But Konami is sorry again and they apologize once again to the players and their shareholders. eFootball 2022 as it was conceived in version 1.0 will not be realized before the spring of 2022.
What does 1.0 mean? That version was supposed to bring a main Creative Team mode in which footballers would gather and develop to put together the best possible team. The mode in question was supposed to bring some goal to playing eFootball 2022 which is currently like a demo version and offers nothing concrete. In addition to the Creative Team, version 1.0 was supposed to bring new mechanics in gameplay, support for cross-play between consoles and PC, and the first edition of the mobile version of eFootball 2022. Until further notice, last season's eFootball will be played on the mobile phone.
Version 1.0 was supposed to be released on November 11, but in Konami, they are still far from being completed, so everything is postponed for at least half a year, if not longer. And that delay also means delaying everything else that was announced for the winter, such as eSports tournaments, online leagues, etc.
You may remember that Konami sold Premium packages with footballers before the launch of eFootball. It is now canceled, removed from sale and all those who have spent their money on it will receive an automatic refund. Of course, Konami wouldn’t be Konami if there wasn’t some excuse about this. If you purchased the Premium Player Pack and have eFootball 2022 installed on the consoles, you will need to remove it from the console and download it again. On a PC, the situation is different so there is no need to download the game again because of this.
Delaying the game is always good in the context that nothing should be rushed. However, Konami is in trouble with this project. In the next six months, they will not have a single cent of earnings from him, everything they earned through pre-orders microtransactions must return. Time passes, and paid licenses and agreed partnerships will not last forever… Time is money, and Konami loses it with this delay.
In addition, once eFootball 2022 is launched in version 1.0, the football season will be over, and knowing Konami, they will apologize to the players in the spring because they failed to update the team after the winter transfer window that ended three months ago.
