Elder Scrolls 6 will be an Xbox exclusive
Microsoft paid $ 7.5 billion for the acquisition of Bethesda and their franchises, and it is quite clear that they also paid for a certain exclusivity. Earlier this year, it was confirmed that Bethesda’s next project, the Starfield space RPG, will be exclusive to Xbox Series consoles and PCs. The specifics of this exclusivity are not explicitly determined, so it is not known whether it is a permanent or temporary exclusivity.
However, Starfield won’t be the only Bethesda game to be absent from the PlayStation console - either permanently or temporarily. The same treatment follows for the next game in The Elder Scrolls series, the Xbox boss said in an interview with GQ Magazine. Phil Spencer justifies himself by saying that they do not decide on exclusivity to harm other platforms but to ensure that they offer everything they have to offer on their platform.
“It is not the exclusivity of punishing any other platform, I believe all platforms can continue to grow. But for people to be on the Xbox, we need to be able to bring them the complete package of what we have. And that's what I'm guided by when we think of Elder Scrolls 6, just like with any of our franchises. ” Said, Spencer.
The Xbox team is often called out for the slogan “Gaming is for everyone,” claiming that it contradicts buying game exclusivity for the Xbox ecosystem.
Ever since it’s been under Microsoft’s umbrella, the Elder Scrolls series has yet to become neglected on the PlayStation. The recent Anniversary edition of Skyrim also ended up on the PlayStation 5, while the latest expansion for Elder Scrolls Online was also launched today on PS4 and PS5 consoles.
