A new model of Nvidia RTX 2060 card with 12 GB of memory arrives next week
Strange times for graphics cards. It is rumored that we will soon announce the third generation of RTX cards from Nvidia, but before that, we will get a new model from the first generation. The RTX 2060 is back on sale, but not the card that was launched three years ago, but its enhanced version.
According to the VideoCardz portal, the GeForce RTX 2060 12 GB model should go on sale next week, December 7. The name of the card already revealed the main novelty - the card comes with 12 GB of video memory, which is the highest capacity in the first generation RTX -and if we don't count Titan. According to most other specifications, the card is very similar to the RTX 2060 Super model, which was launched in mid-2019.
The new RTX 2060 is conceived as a competitive card to AMD's Radeon RX 6600. It imposes itself as a more affordable option compared to the GeForce RTX 3060 which was generally about 10% faster compared to the 2060 Super model. The new RTX 2060 is likely to offer good raw performance, but is built on the old Turing architecture and will still have certain limitations, eg it will not support PCIe Gen 4 and will have lower raytracing performance due to fewer RT cores compared to RTX 3000 series.
We still don't have the most important information: how much will the RTX 2060 12 GB cost. However, it is futile to predict the recommended retail price of the card anyway. We can say that it will be somewhere between $ 250 and $ 300, but given the current demand for cards, it is more likely that the actual market price in this case will not go below $ 500 - if you can find the card on sale at all.
