New shame for GTA: The Trilogy - physical release of the game for PS4 can not be upgraded to PS5
The dust has settled around the technical mess of GTA: The Trilogy, but we’re not done with the controversy yet. The physical releases of GTA: The Trilogy for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One / Series consoles appeared yesterday. It has thus been confirmed that players on the PlayStation cannot have the game in the box and play it as a version for the PlayStation 5.
If you buy the PS4 version of GTA: The Trilogy on disk, there’s no way to upgrade it to the PlayStation 5 version. Not that there’s no free upgrade, but there’s no upgrade. You can play GTA games on the PS5 console, but as a PS4 version without improvements in resolution and graphics.
As there will be no physical release of GTA: The Trilogy for the PlayStation 5, this is pretty sad news for gamers on the PlayStation. Especially since players on the Xbox don’t have such problems at all. Namely, the physical version of GTA: The Trilogy for Xbox is also a version for both Xbox One and Xbox Series, so an upgrade is possible (and free) if you switch from the old generation of Xbox to the new one.
