Alienware has introduced the Concept Nyx - a PC that can run four games for four players at the same time
Alienware has taken on the challenge of solving problems that not many players suffer from. On the occasion of the CES fair, they announced that they want to enable more players from one household to play games on one PC at the same time. But not exactly as you think. In this scenario, multiple players do not play the same game (e.g., in local multiplayer), but multiple players play multiple different games simultaneously on a single computer.
Alienware’s Concept Nyx is a super-powerful computer capable of running up to four games at once, although it’s unclear at this time whether that means four operating systems at the same time. We only know that Alienware wants to allow PC players to run multiple instances of an online game with multiple different accounts at the same time, to play it together if there is no local multiplayer.
Of course, this requires more screens, and it is limiting if all these screens must be close to the computer itself. Therefore, Concept Nyx is based on local streaming - ie it broadcasts up to four games simultaneously on up to four different screens. Alienware states that this is a more reliable streaming solution than that four players in one household stream games from services such as GeForce Now, Xbox Cloud, etc. at the same time.
This whole project is currently under research, and Concept Nyx is not yet a concrete or tangible product. Alienware does not say what hardware they use for their vision, they just say they love challenges and will continue to work on materializing this concept.
