The Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 will get a model with 12 gigabytes of memory
Last fall, the situation was a bit awkward for Nvidia GeForce RTX card owners when Far Cry 6 came out. This ultra HD textured game required more than 10GB of video memory, and even the RTX 3080 card wasn’t ready for that.
It was a shame, Nvidia said, announcing a new 12 gigabyte RTX 3080. Two gigabytes more than the previous one. Fortunately, not only the amount of video memory increased but also the number of CUDA cores (by 3%) and the memory bandwidth itself (by approximately 20%). In return, the card requires 30W more power.
The price of the card is not specified. We know that there will be no Founder’s Edition model and that sales will start today. But we'll have to take their word for it - because we probably won't see graphics outside of crypto farms.
