Ubisoft may be preparing its own streaming service
Ubisoft is one of the companies that are not afraid of cloud gaming and sees streaming games as an opportunity to expand its business. They have already supported Google Stadion and Amazon Luna services, and they wholeheartedly support Nvidia's GeForce Now, unlike many other publishers. But it seems Ubisoft won’t stop there.
This week, they entered into a strategic partnership with French company Gamestream, which leases its streaming technology and infrastructure. Gamestream thus allows Ubisoft to launch "its" streaming service on leased infrastructure.
Now, it is questionable whether this will happen. Ubisoft says that this partnership will expand the capacity for streaming games from its catalog for internal and public purposes. As for the internal part, Ubisoft streaming is no stranger, so they previously used a streaming solution called Parsec to test games. As for the public part, Ubisoft may give the games from its catalog to Gamestream distributors, which are, among other things, telecoms.
