Dead Space aims for 2023, a new gameplay video has been released
Earlier this week, rumors could be heard that Dead Space was "postponed" for
2023. Although we didn't even have a specific release date, Electronic Arts
have now confirmed that plan: a remake of Dead Space will arrive in early
2023.
In addition to this announcement, the EA Motive development
team provided a full range of insights into the game’s auditory segment and
the new A.L.I.V.E. system. In short, in the remake, the main character Isaac
Clarke will have a reactive behavioral system - for example, his heart rate
will be faster the more intense the fight. His heart rate will define his
breathing, and breathing will affect how fast he gets tired, ie how fast he
consumes stamina.
Sound will also play a more significant role in
evoking the vitality of the character, so there will be no classic stamina
gauge but the player will be guided by the heartbeat sound.
On the
other hand, the dialogues in the game will be different depending on Isaac's
condition - the conversations will sound different when the character is well
when he is out of breath and when he is wounded. We could hear something
similar in Marvel’s Spider-Man.
A new gameplay recording has also
been released that demonstrates the atmospheric nature of the sound. It is
recommended that you experience it by wearing headphones.
The sounds of the weapons will also be modified in the processing. EA Motive
demonstrated this to us on two examples - Plasma Cutter and Pulse Rifle.
Weapons will thus have multiple layers of sound and will ultimately sound
different depending on the environment in which they are used. In short -
expect a "fuller" sound when firing, with some additional effects such as
echo.
