System Shock 3 has not been in development for more than two years
In early 2020, there was a rumor that the development team of Otherside Entertainment had stopped working on the long-awaited game System Shock 3. It was shocking news because the development of the third part was to be led by Warren Spector, legendary designer of the first System Shock and Deus Ex.
We later learned that the System Shock franchise was bought by Chinese megacorporation Tencent, but it remained unclear whether Otherside Entertainment continued to develop the game. Now we find out the answer is negative - Spector's team stopped working on the game as of 2019 and is now fully committed to a new project that has nothing to do with System Shock. It is not known if anyone from Tencent has been hired to continue working on the game.
In an interview with GamesBeat, Specter briefly stated about the fate of System Shock 3: “Tencent is now in charge of the future of this franchise. It's up to them to tell you what they want to say about it. "
