The DioField Chronicle is a new game of the SRPG genre - simulation role-playing
It looks like Square Enix will be launching everything this year except the
new Final Fantasy. At last night's State of Play, they announced a
strategic-simulation RPG called The DioField Chronicle. It is a game
that will put us in the role of a general on the battlefield, but also outside
it. We will fight the battles from a bird's eye view, in real-time, while the
second part of the game will take place with a camera behind the character's
back.
That second part of the game will be a free
exploration of the camp where the next mission is being prepared. There
we will be able to talk to the mercenaries of our company Blue Fox, listen to
various gossip, and witness dramatic situations of characters that emerged
from the war, etc.
The DioField Chronicle will take place in a country at war between two
factions: the Empire and the Alliance. Dioheld Island is the only
kingdom not part of the conflict, but when both sides learn that the island
has a resource that could give them an advantage in the war, they turn against
it. The island is defended by the mercenary company Blue Fox, and its
characters are managed by the player himself.
The DioField
Chronicle has been announced for PC (Steam), PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One,
and Series X / S platforms. We will play it sometime during 2022.
