Commandos and Desperados get their pirate alternative - Frigato: Shadows of the Caribbean
It is fascinating how the genre of real-time tactical games (RTT) adapts to different themes. One of the most popular games of this type was WW2 RTT - Commandos: Beyond Enemy Lines. She inspired western RTT - Desperados: Wanted Dead or Alive. And later there were still RTT games on the theme of Robin Hood, Prohibition in Chicago, and Japanese samurai. Developer Mercat Games saw an untapped opportunity and just announced the pirated RTT title Frigato: Shadows of the Caribbean.
The premise is the same as in all other games of this type. We control a gang of characters each with a set of special skills. Enemies are numerically superior, so the team must sneak and hide, ambush, and the like. Only the theme is different, so here we will sail the seas and discover sea legends such as haunted islands, mermaids, and the like.
One of the potentially interesting things that Frigato promises is the
dynamic setting of weight according to the player's actions. For
example, if you often eliminate opponents in missions, it will be heard about,
so opponents will be better prepared for the next missions. However, if you
choose a more challenging way to hide and play quietly in the beginning, your
life could be easier in later missions.
Frigato: Shadows of the
Caribbean has been announced as a PC exclusive for now. The release date is
not yet known, but it was said that we will be able to try the game next
month, through a demo version that will be released on Steam on
June 13.
