Superman and Shaggy will battle next week, MultiVersus enters open testing

Fighting game fans may want to mark 7/26 on their calendars. Open beta testing of the crossover tablet MultiVersus, another free alternative to Nintendo's Smash starts on that date. The open beta will take place on PC, PS4, PS5, XBO, and XS platforms, with cross-play and cross-progression options supported.

And the good news is that all progress made during open testing will be preserved for all players who want to return to MultiVersus once the game is launched. The testing itself will not have a defined end, so this is a soft launch of the game.

Those who have already participated in the closed testing will be able to access the new testing earlier - from 7/19.

MultiVersus will bring 2v2 team matches, 1v1 individual matches, as well as four-way matches where everyone fights for themselves. It will be playable in online multiplayer, local multiplayer, cooperatively against AI opponents, etc. There will also be a training mode called The Lab, where the game will teach you its basics.

As for the fighters, they are confirmed for now:

• Shaggy, Velma (Scooby Doo)
• Bugs Bunny, Taz (Looney Tunes)
• Jake the Dog, Finn the Human (Adventure Time)
• Steven Universe, Garnet (Steven Universe)
• Arya Stark (Game of Thrones)
• Tom & Jerry
• The Iron Giant
• Reindog

Shaggy, Taz, Harley Quinn, and Jake the Dog will be available at the start, while the remaining characters will have to be unlocked by playing.
